                          February 11th, 2024

What God Would You Choose When You Are Suffering?

                          Job 38-42

Job 38:1–2, “God” I’ll be the prosecuting attorney here and I’ll query you about a few things.”

Job 38:4–7, God talks the foundation of the earth?”

Job: 38, 8–11, God focuses on the water.

Job 38:12–15; God focuses on the dawn.

Job 38:16, God focuses on the depth of the sea.

Job 38:19-21 God queries Job about the origin of light and dark:

Job 38:22–30 God talks about snow and hail and rain and frost:

Job 38:31–33, God discusses constellations now.

Job 38:34–38: “Can you make it rain? Do you know how to whistle for the lightning?”

Job 38:39–41 says, “Who provides the raven its prey when its young ones cry to God and wonder about for lack of food?

Job 39:1–4 says, “Do you know when the mountain goats give birth? Matthew 10:29.

Job 39:5–8 says, “Who has let the wild donkey go free?”

Job 39:9–12 says, “Can you bind [the ox] in the furrow with ropes? He is mine.”

Job 39:13–18; God made the Ostrich stupid.

Job 40:2-5; Job 40:6-9; So Job is now humbled by God’s speech to him.

Job 40:10–12; “I’m God, and I’m mighty, and therefore, what I do is right.

Job 42:1–6; So there’s Job submitting to sovereignty: “No purpose of thine can be thwarted. Job

Job 42:3: This is the submission to the wisdom of God. First to the power and sovereignty of God and now he’s submitting to the knowledge and wisdom of God.

Job 42:4–6: So Job was in ashes at the beginning; he was submissive to God.

Romans 8:18. So in the big biblical theology picture, chapter 42, in its restoration, is a promise. Whether in this life or in the next, you will be rewarded.

Job 42:1-2; Believe in the absolute sovereignty of God like Job. His purpose can’t be thwarted.

2 Corinthians 5:21; The gospel is a story of the Son of God who leads an absolutely flawless life of righteousness.
